State Grant Funds Received

The GVFC has received over $14,000 in grant funds through the Fire Company and Volunteer Ambulance Services Grant Program. These funds will be used to help reduce the debt on the replacement of our firehouse roof and also for training costs for our members to get national certifications in Hazardous Materials Operations.

We were recently chosen as the random winner of a drawing held by PA One Call System. Back in August, we entered a contest by submitting a picture of our outdoor sign with a message to "Call before you dig".

Engine 55-3 and Car 55 attended the Northeast Firemens Federation Convention in conjunction with Lake Ariel Fire Company's 100th Anniversary in Lake Ariel today. Engine 55-3 was awarded the Best Appearing Pumper 2000-2009 and Car 55 was awarded the Best Appearing Specialty Unit.

At the monthly meeting of the Lehigh Township Supervisors, Chief Miller of the fire company and Officer Price of the Lehigh Township Police were recognized for their efforts in the rescue of a teenage girl from a control tower shaft at the dam in Covington Township on July 10, 2016.

Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2016 Coyote Hunt! We had one coyote brought in by Brian Stucker of Wilkes-Barre. He took the coyote in Monroe County by calling and the use of a dog. It weighed in at 33.92 lbs.

We received offical word today that we have received $24,225 from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant through FEMA to purchase 10 new complete sets of turnout gear! We are so thankful to have received these funds.

Our annual Community Halloween Party was held today. There was a costume parade with winners for the best costumes in each age group. Every kid received a pumpkin that they could decorate. The kids also enjoyed cupcakes and a goody bag full of treats! We hope everyone had fun.

Around 2030 on September 23, Engine 553, the 2000 Pierce from Burtonsville MD was put in service at our substation at the Clifton Township Municipal Building. After purchasing the engine in April 2013, it was painted from white to red to match the rest of our fleet.

On Saturday, we brought home the 2000 Pierce pumper that we purchased from Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland back in April. The pumper was at Spectrum Auto & Collision Center in Moscow getting painted.

The 2000 Pierce that we purchased from Burtonsville MD will soon be red to match the rest of our apparatus. The engine is currently at Spectrum Auto in Moscow getting painted! We are excited to see the finished product and to put Engine 55-3 back in service.
On Tuesday May 21st, six companies from the North Pocono Area received a pet mask kit from Invisible Fence of Northeast PA. At 9:47 this morning, Engine 55-3, the 1991 E-One owned by the Gouldsboro Volunteer Fire Company, left the station for the last time. The engine was bought by Command Fire Apparatus from Lancaster PA and will be sold.

Today we picked up a 2000 Pierce Dash engine from Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department in Maryland. This "new" engine will replace Engine 55-3, our 1991 E-One. The Pierce was Engine 15 in its' now former life in Maryland and will start a new chapter as Engine 55-3 here in Gouldsboro.

The Gouldsboro Volunteer Fire Company was invited to attend the Lake View Estates Community Watch meeting this evening. Members from the fire company met with a small group of residents from Lake View Estates who started a Community Watch Group about a year ago.

Oxygen Masks for Pets, a mission started by Janet Fincannon of Charleston South Carolina, has generously donated a Pet Oxygen Mask Kit to the Gouldsboro Volunteer Fire Company. The kit contains 3 oxygen masks specifically designed for pets, 1 small, 1 medium and 1 large.

This afternoon, Gouldsboro Fire Company was joined by the Gouldsboro Ambulance Squad and Santa in visiting the Keystone Community homes in Gouldsboro. This is an annual tradition where Santa is driven on a fire truck to deliver gifts and fruit baskets to the Keystone homes in our town.
